With the 520d sold I need something else. I’m still driving it while the new owner waits on plates, but I have a fat envelope with small, unmarked Euros in it. I’m kind of over BMW wagons, but E30, AWD and some speed...

As you might know I’ve owned two E30 wagons. One sold (and shipped to) a Texan, the other to a Belgian. I think they’re great. However, one thing to watch out for: RUST. Especially on an iX. See those plastic skirts? Be very wary about what’s underneath. I personally wouldn’t bid on an iX sight unseen, unless you get some detailed pictures or find someone who will look at it for you. Two years ago I asked Oppo member Klaus Schmoll to look at an iX for me. It was a pricey car at €7.5k and it looked pristine in pictures (better pictures than in that Swiss auction), so I assumed it would be okay. It wasn’t. He wrote two very detailed posts about it, with pictures.

Again, this was offered for €7.5k. Note the bubbling underneath the white paint.

Also, if you look at my avatar you can imagine why I’m not going to talk you out of a CX. Although I personally wouldn’t daily drive one.

I spotted this E30 Touring a few days ago on German Ebay. I’m interested, but it’s located in an odd location. On the island Rügen. The island Oppo member Klaus Schmoll moved to recently. I’m afraid to ask him (again), also because I don’t need another car.

If you’re seriously interested we can find someone who’s located close enough to see it in person. It’s not in Emmerich but in Utrecht according to the ad. I could do it myself, but Utrecht isn’t that much closer to me (2 hour drive) than it is to you (2 hours 45?) so that wouldn’t make much sense.

Potentially. I have €3,000 in my pocket burning a hole and have to make the difference magically appear (which I can do.) Need to talk it through with the wife. Although she just said “yes pls” to my IM to her with the link to the car.
